Kenji Iba was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1955. He received the B.S and the M.S and Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Waseda University in 1978, in 1980 and in 1990, respectively. He joined Mitsubishi Electric Corp. in 1980. He also had visited Westinghouse in U.S.A. in 1983. He has been a professor in Meisei University from 2004. Professor Iba is a fellow of IEEE and a senior member of IEEJ.

When he was a student, he had learned power system engineering from Prof. Tamura in Waseda University. After he joined Mitsubishi, his major field is power system planning and analysis. His research works on reactive power and voltage control had been highly evaluated. And he had been promoted to a fellow of IEEE in 2003. Prof. Iba has been very active as a member of IEEJ( Institute of Electrical Engineers in Japan). He was member and/or secretary of several technical committees in IEEJ. He was a chairman of IEEE Tokyo Chapter Power System Engineering PE-31 and he was a member of IEEE fellow committee of Power System Engineering Society.

He is several members of Japanese governmental and/or government conducted committees in Power Energy Storage and NAS battery. He is a neutral member of Electric Power System Council of Japan. He is a board member of the consortium of Power System Technology in Japan.
